12. 3. 1958 Born in Frankfurt am Main.
1964 - 1968 Riedhofschule Frankfurt am Main.
1968 - 1977 Goethe-Gymnasium Frankfurt am Main. A-level Latin; bilingual branch; High-level courses: Biology / English.
From SS 1978 onwards Studies in philosophy, ethnology and theology at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität in Frankfurt am Main.
SS 1982 M.A. in philosophy. Topic of treatise: "Rationalismus und Mystik". Afterwards I started working on my doctorate as a graduate student, supported by a scholarship of the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes.
SS 1985 I graduated and took my Ph.D. from Frankfurt University. Topic of dissertation: "Neuere Beiträge zur Diskussion des Leib-Seele-Problems".
Fall 1985 Teaching assignment on the European Campus of the University of Maryland at Gießen. Course topic: "Contemporary Moral Issues".
SS 1986 - SS 1987 A series of teaching assignments and lectureships at the Department of Philosophy in Frankfurt.
Since 1. 8. 1987 Teaching assistant at the Center for Philosophy and Foundations of Science at the University of Gießen. Teaching assignments and lectureships at the universities of Gießen, Frankfurt and Oldenburg.
13.10. 1992 Appointment as "Hochschulassistent" (C 1) and public servant on time.
25.11. 1992 Habilitation for philosophy, awarded by the dean of the faculty of history of the Justus-Liebig-University Gießen.
20. 1. 1993 Appointment as university lecturer by the dean of the faculty of history of the Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen.
WS 1995 Substitution for the professorial chair of Martin Lang at the department of philosophy of the University of Osnabrück.
SS 1996 Substitution for the professorial chair of Georg Meggle at the department of philosophy of the University of Saarbrücken.

Analytical philosophy of mind, philosophy of science and philosophical aspects of the neuro- and cognitive sciences; philosophy of science and philosophical aspects of artificial intelligence and related fields; connections between ethics, philosophy of mind and anthropology; applied ethics of the neuro- and cognitive sciences, artificial intelligence and computer science.
